New Toilet Access Sling Design

Going to the toilet is something that is taken for granted far too much. When the use of a hoist is required it can be a real challenge to safely transfer someone who needs to go now. Traditional toilet slings require the user to support themselves which isn’t always possible. Without the ability to support themselves, the sling will put huge pressure under the arms which is very dangerous and can cause lasting damage. However the worst scenario is the risk that the user slips out of the back of the sling, a number of deaths have occurred due to this. As such the industry has tended to lean towards safety and the use of full body slings and an additional transfer to the bed before transferring to the toilet. With the pressures on social care and the time carers have to complete calls, this can cause conflicts.

Care-ability have always looked at various ways to combat this conflict between time and safety and can now announce a new development in Toilet/Access slings. Our new High Back Extensor Toilet sling is both supportive and comfortable, with a tight fit around the waist and legs and a low cut to eliminate under arm pressure. The sling is a new standard in personal care.

Hoist Projects

It has been a busy month for our installation teams, having completed several large projects across the North East. One project in particular saw 9 Guldmann room covering, Wall Rail systems and a hydro-pool system linking to a changing room and treatment room via two double gates. Three of the Wall Rail systems were extremely large at 7m x 6m. This project took our team of four installation technicians along with some additional help from Guldmann, only 6 full days to complete which is an amazing feat given the size and complexity of the task.

We have also completed works on a large mortuary hoist at a new build hospital in the North East and three additional day centres. Whilst being busy with these major projects, we still had the resources to complete 81 standard hoist installations in the community, no customer suffered a delay during our site work.

If you are planning a hoist installation and would like to benefit from our expertise contact us today, we are the company with the best track record.
