What clients are suitable for the Boston Specialist Seating?

The Boston Chair is a Tilt in Space chair with Recliner function suitable for semi-ambulant and non-ambulant users who require medium to high levels of support to maintain or improve their posture and reduce pressure.   The Boston Specialist Seating performs well in homecare, healthcare and nursing and care home environments.

What functions does the Boston Specialist Seating provide?

The Boston provides independent tilt in space, backrest recline and footrest elevation to enable the redistribution of pressure and increase comfort as part of 24 hour postural care management.  The mechanisms are available in manual and electric operation.  The optional footplate is both height and angle adjustable.

What sizes are available?

The Boston comes with a weight limit of between 127kg (20 stone) and 159kg (25 stone) depending on the seat cushion and with a maximum leg rest weight limit of 57kg (9 stone).

The sizes below can be adjusted with accessories such as a backrest depth adjuster or additional padding.

An assessment will determine the most suitable suitable seat cushion for your client.

What options are available for the Specialist Seating?

The Boston pressure relieving chair has many options available.  The seat options include Viscoform, Celliform, Foamaform, Liquiform, Coolform and Airform variations for pressure levels and heat dissipation.

The backrest also has several options to maximise comfort and lateral support for the patient.  One of the most popular choices is the double comfort lateral support as pictured.  This offers good lateral support combined with maximum comfort.

There are a number of headrest and footrest options which include varying levels of support and padding.

There is also a huge range of vapour permeable inner surface fabrics and hard wearing outer fabrics in stylish colours to customise each individual chair.
